I was born in Chungbuk, Korea on June 1, 1954.

   My name is Mr. Seong Min HONG. I studied Arabic and Economics at the university in Korea. I also obtained the degree, Ph. D. in Economics. I, as a professor, have been studied the Middle Eastern Economics at the university since 1981.

   After that, I sincerely need the Middle Eeastern studies in Korea. To realize my small dream, I established the Middle East institute.with the university lecture. Now  I am a president of Research Institute of the East-West Economy & Society (RIES),which was established on August 15, 1993 by my colleagues, and its sister research body, Korea Institute of the Mideast Economies (KIME) and Korea-Yemen Center (KYC).
